I dropped Hannah off at the airport on Sunday for her 11 hour flight to Hawaii. She was very excited, as were the other 3 kids who were going along. The flight to Hawaii was nonstop. I talked to her 2 times on Monday. The first call was to let me know that she had arrived safely, and that the flight was very long. The second call was to tell me that she had learned to surf! She said that it was very hard to get up on her knees on the board, but that she was able to stand up twice. The plan for the rest of that day was to take a nap and then attend a luau that evening. Her week in Hawaii will be very full of fun things to do. I know that they have a trip to Pearl Harbor planned, tickets to see Lion King and meet the cast, swimming, shopping, swimming with the dolphins, a submarine trip to look at sealife and did I mention shopping and swimming. There are 28 kids on this trip from hospitals around the country and Canada, and their nurses. It’s such a great opportunity for them.
Hannah will be returning on Sunday, and will have Veteran’s Day off to recoup. On Tuesday, we head down to Sloan to meet with her orthopedist, oncology team, and treatment. She will return to school on Wednesday, November 14th.
I know that the pictures from Homecoming did not come out, and I keep forgetting to get Bill to fix them. Hopefully this weekend we will be able to get them up. Maybe Hannah will have some neat pictures from Hawaii to post. Aloha!
