May 3, 2007 Another new surgery date

We have been given a date of May 21 for Hannah’s surgery. We are not sure what the surgery will involve, though we do know that they will be removing the lymph node that is causing concern. We don’t know if they will be removing the tumor in her lung at the same time, or if that will require an additional surgery. Pre-op testing will be on May 15.

Hannah has completed the first doses of chemotherapy. The first day went very easily and she was able to go to school the next four days. The dose this past Monday was a little more difficult and she has had to miss several days of school. Hopefully she will be feeling well enough to go tomorrow. On Monday, she will have a blood test and we will see if she has to have any blood or platelet transfusions. It would be nice to get through the first cycle without needing one or the other.

This Sunday is Nathan’s Eagle Court of Awards. We are looking forward to the day, and we even got a visit from Grandpa Hess for the occasion. He flew in from Chicago for a few days. Nathan and his roommate, Chad, shaved their heads in honor of Hannah. I will try to have Bill post a picture of the two of them. Of course, as all who are waiting for the dinner/dance pictures from last November know, it may be a while before we get that picture up.
