I can’t believe tomorrow is June 1st. Where does the time go? Austin has just about finished his first year of high school and before you know it we will be looking at colleges. If you live in New York, it sure has gotten hot fast!
June means the annual Relay for Life. We are once again fielding a team of mostly teenagers, with a few of us old folks thrown in for good measure. The Relay this year is June 18th. It will be a busy weekend, since it is also Father’s Day. I think as a great Father’s Day present, I will should make Bill spend the entire twelve hours at the Relay. Last year he managed a trip to Paris during that time. It actually is a wonderful event and I look forward to it every year. It also rains every year, so hopefully this year it will be sunny. I’ll have to put Hannah on weather detail in Heaven that day.
I am also looking forward to awarding a scholarship to a deserving senior during class day on June 10th. We honor Hannah’s memory by awarding a scholarship to a student who has also had to overcome a personal or family challenge, and still been able to succeed in school, as Hannah did.
The men is the family are all doing well. Colin finished his semester in school and Austin is winding down. Bill has been busy, and even the weekends are getting filled with activities. We are attending the 30th anniversery reunion of Happiness is Camping where Hannah spent so many wonderful summers, just having the opportunity to be a normal child instead of the kid with cancer. I look forward to seeing all the staff and nurses who where such a part of our lives for so many years. The trip to the camp is June 11th.
Well, stay cool, crank up the air conditioner, and if you live in Goshen, think about coming out to the Relay for Life on June 18th.
