It’s been a long, long time since I last posted. We have been a very busy family. A couple of times since January, I’ve even had family on three different continents. It’s a strange feeling. Keeping track of time changes so I don’t wake anyone up if I call is really fun! Of course, I know they love to talk to me so they don’t care if I call at 3:00 a.m. Right!
Memorial Weekend was a sad time for our family. My mother passed away at the age of 90 on May 29th. She and my dad were married for 57 years! What a great legacy for their children and grandchildren. We spent time in Illinois with the family, and Austin and I are going back for a visit the end of July. I think that it is hard to lose a parent, no matter what age. I do know that she and Hannah are together, and I know that Hannah was waiting to welcome her to heaven.
Hannah would have graduated from high school this June. We attended the graduation, and presented two scholarships in her memory. We were honored to attend and were so proud of her friends as they received their diplomas. There were tears, but the high school did such a wonderful job making her part of the ceremony. It meant so much to us.
Nathan has been home from Africa for a few weeks, but will be returning to Zambia next week. We were happy to have a young lady from Zambia, and two young men from Tanzania and Rwanda spend a week with us this summer. They will also be returning to Africa next week. We have been quite an international household this summer. It has been great having Nathan home, and we will miss him when he is gone, but he loves his work, so we are happy for him. Hopefully he will be visiting us again in October.
Colin spent 2 weeks in Europe with his good friend, Evan, and Bill in May. They had a great time, and visited several countries. Now Colin is taking 2 classes this summer and is putting in a lot of hours at work. Austin is off at Boy Scout Camp this week and will return on Saturday. It is very quiet in the house without him. I have been enjoying the summer, have a lot of grand plans of what I want to accomplish around the house, and haven’t done a single one. Isn’t that always the case? The last week of summer vacation I will be going crazy trying to get everything done.
Thanks to all for continuing to check in with us. Hopefully, I won’t take so long to post next time.
