Happy Valentine’s Day! Our Valentine’s present was the first snow day of the year. Hannah and Austin went out to go sledding (or as they say here on the east coast, sleighriding) and had a great time. Hannah was very tired from walking through the snow. I’m not sure if that was because of her heart difficulties or because her lung capacity is not what it was. I was still so glad she got out though. Last year at this time she was too sick to enjoy the snow. This past Monday was a hospital day for me. I started out at Sloan Kettering with Hannah. She had a chest x-ray, which did not show any changes, and an echocariogram. Her cardiologist has decided to add an additional medication for her heart, because of how her heart tends to race. We will be going back to Sloan on March 12. Hannah will be having her cat scan and bloodwork done. We thought that they would check for titers this month, but they decided to do it all next month. After getting home from Sloan with Hannah, I turned around and went to the local emergency room with Colin. He had been snowboarding and was run into by another snowboarder. His head hit the ground and he suffered a mild concussion. He is doing okay now and even went out today and cross-country skied with a friend. Just can’t keep a good guy down! Hannah and Colin are putting together a team for Relay for Life in June. Their team is going to plan some fundraising events and try to get sponsers to raise money for The American Cancer Society. Any one who wants to participate or help in the cause, contact Hannah or Colin. I do believe Hannah is going to be one of the “grand marshalls” for the survivors lap of the event. Hopefully, we won’t have torrential rains this year like we did last year. I have assigned Bill and any of the other dads to be the ones to spend the night at the event with the team. I’m pretty sure that’s a dad job, not a mom job. Moms will take care of the food.
