April 23, 2006

The first round of chemo after surgery has come and gone. The first 2 days went well. Hannah and I (mom) went for a walk on Monday night to Barnes and Noble, which was 13 blocks there and 13 blocks back. On Tuesday evening, we went for a tour of NBC studio with Janice Huff. This was set up by the McDonald house. By Thursday night, it was hard to go the 5 blocks from the hospital to the Ronald Mcdonald House without a rest each block. Tomrrow morning, Hannah will get a blood count and we anticipate going right back to Sloan for a transfusion. Her energy level is very low and so is her appetite. We thought that this round would be tough considering that she was back in chemo only 2 weeks after major surgery. The good news is her culture for the flu came back negative, so we did not have to stay in isolation all week. Hopefully by next weekend, the effects of the chemo will begin to wear off and she can get out and enjoy the spring weather.
